The Sakhi Collaboration

Welcome to the official blog of The Sakhi Collaboration. We are a group of friends holding diverse views but brought together by our common sexual identity. Each members have over the years contributed to Sri Lanka’s LGBTIQ community by way of advocacy and support of community initiatives. Through the formation of the Sakhi Collaboration we plan to combine our efforts to support the Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender communities belonging to the wider LGBTIQ community and in so doing, we will continue to support and enhance the work carried out by the existing Sexual Rights Advocacy Organisations in  Sri Lanka with the intent of improving the lives of all sexually diverse communities. Here we expect to build a dialogue  with the public regarding Sex, Gender and Sexuality and related topics to it. Please feel free to add your comments in a decent language for a healthy discussion. The Sakhi Vision - We believe in the right to dignity security and equal opportunity and freedom for all Lesbian, Gay ,Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and Intersex (LGBTQI) persons in Sri Lanka, and envision a world free of stigma and discrimination, where all people have equal rights and privileges under the law. The Sakhi Mission –   To promote a unified approach towards the realization of a society free of legal and social discrimination towards diverse sexual and gender expressions ensuring human rights to all.   To work towards an empowered LGBTQI community able to live a healthy, fulfilled life.
